Echinaforce is a traditional herbal preparation for the prevention and supportive treatment of colds and flu. The purple coneflower extract contained in the product has traditionally been used to boost the body's own immune system. The red hats used in Echinaforce extract are organic and are processed fresh, at the latest 24 hours after harvesting. Research has shown that in preparations made from dried red hats, as much as 90% of the virus-killing effect is lost. This is why we only use fresh red beetroot for Echinaforce.

Echinaforce is manufactured in Bioforce AG's pharmaceutical plant according to GMP guidelines.

What can Echinaforce be used for?
Echinaforce acts as an antiviral (destroys flu viruses) and supports immunity. It can be used to prevent colds (flu) during flu season and to treat flu symptoms such as: sore throat, hoarseness, cough, runny nose, fever.

Ingredients:

Two active ingredients: ethanol extract (1:12) 860 mg/ml from the fresh shoot of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench and ethanol extract (1:11) 45 mg/ml from the fresh root; extraction solvent in both extracts 57,3% (m/m) ethanol-water mixture (1 ml = 28 drops). The other components are ethanol (96 % v/v) and purified water.

Dosage:

The recommended dose for the treatment of cold symptoms in adults (including the elderly) and adolescents over 12 years of age is 20 to 25 drops with water 3 to 5 times daily. Echinaforce® drops should be used for a maximum of 10 days for acute cold symptoms. Contact your doctor if the symptoms do not go away within this time or if they worsen (you get a high fever, have difficulty breathing, thick mucus or blood in your sputum).

For the prevention of cold symptoms, the recommended dose is 20 drops 3 times a day.

The prophylaxis can be used continuously for up to two months.

Possible side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects. However, not everyone gets them. Hypersensitivity reactions such as rashes, hives, bronchospasm, asthma, angioedema (e.g. swelling of the lips, face, tongue or throat) and sudden so-called anaphylactic reactions (i.e. severe, generalised allergic reactions) are possible. The use of Echinaforce® may also cause Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which includes skin and mucous membrane symptoms, including peeling of the skin. Atopic and hypersensitive persons are more susceptible to allergic reactions to red hat extract. The frequency of the above adverse reactions is not known.

Echinaforce® is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.

Barrier to use:

Allergy to red hats, mycorrhizal Asteraceae (Compositae) plants (e.g. puja) or any other substance in this medicine, any progressive systemic disease (e.g. tuberculosis or any connective tissue disease), autoimmune disease (e.g. MS), immunodeficiency (e.g. HIV infection).
